Utrecht
Love this city!

We slept in. The room was cool, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was prepared in our little kitchen. Boiled eggs, toast, Gouda slices, fresh strawberries and coffee brewed by Ambrose. I put a wash in the teeny, tiny washing machine. Two hours later our laundry was done! Oh well, everything is very clean now.
Smoking is still practiced here. Look what is outside our apartment!
We wanted to tour the canals by paddle boat and found a business that would allow us to do just that. Ambrose had a steady hand on the tiller.
We went for a walkabout after that. Loved the old clock (c. Late 1500's - post-Reformation - in the St Nicholas church - no, not Santa but the patron saint of the sea)
Walked back along the old old canal. Notice the small doors in the brick walls? There are businesses and apartments behind these doors that extend way back under the roads above.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner back at our apartment. I finally figured out how to work the weird little microwave/convection oven/grill appliance. We re-heated some take-out food. Jamie had two chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
